Watch the Recording of "Understanding Occlusion" with Dr. John Nosti Below!

In this video, Dr. John Nosti  defines occlusion, simplifies common occlusion terminology, and reviews when restorative positions should and should not be used. If you've ever been confused about the differences between Centric Relation, Centric Occlusion, and Maximum Intercuspation, or questioned whether posterior interferences truly impact occlusal stability, this course is for you. Dr. Nosti addresses whether every patient needs to fit into the same occlusal restorative position and provides a predictable method for taking a centric relation bite registration or an increased vertical bite registration.

What you will learn:

  1. Define occlusion and differences between Centric Relation, Maximum intercuspation, and Centric Occlusion.
  2. Discuss the relationship between occlusal stability and successful restorative dentistry.
  3. Describe different philosophies on obtaining proper occlusion.
  4. Review signs and symptoms that may be hallmarks of occlusal instability and treatment
  5. Review the determinants of a stable occlusion.
  6. Discuss the factors that impact occlusal stability.
  7. Describe when and why to alter occlusion.
