Dr. Michael Cohen's legacy story is one of dedication and growth in the field of dentistry. He began his journey practicing alongside his father, Dr Mel Cohen, who established the practice back in October of 1964. Under Dr. Michael Cohen's leadership, Lakeside Family Dental has evolved into a complete multidisciplinary practice. The clinic's goal is to provide comprehensive dental care to their patients and improving treatment outcomes by providing all necessary treatments in-house.

Dr. Michael Cohen's passion for orthodontics, which began during his years at the University of Toronto Dental school, has led to the expansion of services at the clinic, including a full orthodontic component offering all options from functional treatments to braces and aligner therapy. His dedication to dentistry, commitment to education, and passion for orthodontics and implants have significantly contributed to the success and growth of akeside Family Dental, making it the oldest and longest-running dental clinic in Burlington, set to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2024.

Dr. Michael Cohen has established himself as a key opinion leader (KOL) for the Straumann Group, ClearCorrect division. His role involves educating other doctors and dental teams on how to effectively use clear aligners and advance orthodontics in a multidisciplinary approach. This has led him to conduct webinars, study clubs, and mentorship assist throughout North America, sharing his expertise and knowledge gained over the last 34 years.

In addition to his work with Straumann, Dr. Michael Cohen co-founded the Dental Mentorship Group (DMG), which has become the industry’s leading think tank for advanced dental studies and practice management growth. The group focuses on providing valuable mentorship and insights to dental professionals, promoting continuous learning and advancement in the field of dentistry. More recently, Dr. Cohen has partnered in the creation of a new multidisciplinary endeavor called The Connected Health Academy which will focus on a complete health approach that connects myofunctional and airway therapy to orthodontic treatment and overall health and wellness.
